2020 Westridge Winter Ice Classic Tournament

 

All teams will play 4 Round Robin Games (2 , 12 Minute Halves)

 

The Westridge Community Center and the WBHL will be hosting a two day "Ice Hockey"  tournament & on Friday & Saturday February 28 & 29, 2020

Friday February 28 games
Recreational - Shraptors Vs We Pucking Suck 7:00PM

Each Competitive Team will play 1 crossover game due to an uneven amount of teams in pool. The result will count in standings for Competitive team only.

The event will include:

• 4 on 4 Ice Hockey Full size rink with sponge puck. Only Skates, Helmet, & Gloves are required.

• Westridge Sponge Hockey general rules apply.

•  Goalies have the option of wearing sponge hockey shoes or skates .

•  4 games guaranteed 2, 12 minute halves per game.

• Jumbo Hotdogs and Refreshments will be available in Main building from 12PM-2PM. 

• Free Hot Chocolate and Coffee for all players.

• Prizes to divisional winners.

 

-All teams will play 3 round robin games plus playoffs in which all teams will qualify in single elimination format. 1 round robin game will be played on Friday evening, and remainder round robin and playoffs on Saturday.

 

-Games will consist of 4 on 4 play plus goalie; each team may have 8 attackers and 1 goalie on their official roster.

 

-Games will be 24 minutes in length (Two - 12 minute halves, running time, separated by a one

minute half-time break. The last minute of the game will be stop time.

 

-Each team is allowed one 30 second time out per game.

 

-All games are played with an official Westridge Sponge hockey puck.

 

-Only Goalies have the option of wearing sponge hockey shoes or skates. All attacking players must be on skates.

 

- Recreation teams are limited 1 just 1 competitive division player per team.

 

-Slap shots are permitted in all divisions.

 

-Only Skates, Helmet, & Gloves are required for attacking players.

 

-There will be no icing or off-sides during this tournament. Westridge Sponge hockey general rules apply.

 

- If a game is tied after regulation in the playoffs, there will be a 10-minute overtime period. If still tied, the game will be decided by a 3 player shootout. If still tied, it will go to a sudden death shootout round. Players must go through their entire line-up before shooting again. No overtime/shootout in Round robin.

 

A tie in standings between TWO TEAMS in a Pool or Division will be decided by the following:
1. Head to head series
2. Overall +/- goals for minus goals against from preliminary division standings
3. Overall least goals against from preliminary division standings
4. Overall most goals for from preliminary division standings

If THREE OR MORE TEAMS have identical records, then their ranking is determined by the higher number of points in a special standing composed just from the results of their head-to-head (mutual) games if equal games played apply to all teams involved. If the number of points is equal between any of the teams in this special standing just from the results of their head-to-head (mutual) games or teams do not have equal games played between them, then the following tie breaking criteria applies (with no secondary return to the head-to-head results):

1. Overall +/- goals for minus goals against from original standings
2. Overall least goals against from original standings
3. Overall most goals for from original standings
4. Flip of a coin.

 

Teams can register in the following Division:

Competitive Adult - Participants must be 16 years & up - Cost $275.00 Per Team

Recreational Adult - Participants must be 16 years & up - Cost $250.00 Per Team

 

Individuals to be placed on a team - Cost $40.00 per player.

 

Rosters may have a maximum of 8 attackers and a goalie. No Gender restrictions apply. Can be a mixture of males and females.
